Good morning! Go ahead and make your bed, brush your teeth, wash your face, put on clothes that you feel comfortable in, put on deodorant, and do your hair. After that, take a look in the mirror and say to yourself, "I'm a human being that's worthy of success if I put in the right amount of energy and discipline". Drink 2 cups of water, so your body isn't as dehydrated after sleeping. and go outside and take a 15-minute walk so the machine that we call the body starts to get going and your mood gets elevated due to something scientists call "optic flow". The blood flow gets going, and you're filling your brain with pure oxygen.
After completing your walk, you can eat breakfast if you want, but I suggest waiting until lunch for your first meal, so you'll be more focused and don't feel full as soon as the day starts. Also, you shouldn't eat past midnight; past-midnight snacks make you feel more exhausted in the morning. Let's continue. Take out your phone and put it in do not disturb mode. I personally use Apple, so what you do is swipe up and press on the half moon. It also shouldn't be difficult to do for Android users. Leave it on; do not disturb until lunch. This will help productivity and speed up your work flow, and it also makes you think less about unnecessary stuff on your phone.
Take out your phone and open the notes section; open a notepad on your computer; or grab a piece of paper and create a timetable from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to sleep. I want you to write down what a perfect day of yours looks like, for example, "7 a.m. waking up, 7:30 going for a a run". This is meant to put some sort of structure in your day, a structure you need follow.
Again, open the notes section on your phone, open a notepad on your computer, or take a piece of paper, but this time write down your goals and what you want to achieve. What do you want to do with your life? Really sit down and think about it for a moment. Take a photo of what you've just created and set it as your smartphone background and desktop wallpaper. If you wrote it on paper, put the paper somewhere where you'll often see it. Continue with rank 5 after lunch.
So, lunch passed. How do you feel? Probably not too different at all; maybe a little irritated, and the urge to turn off do not disturb mode might almost get to you, or maybe it did, in which case I honestly feel bad for you. But if you've pulled through with it, congratulations! You're taking action, and you're slowly starting to regain control. Very good. It’s not about doing it once or twice; it’s about creating the habit that you have control over your phone, not your phone having control over you. You can now turn off do not disturb mode if you so desire or leave it on until your done with today's work, wich I would suggest.
You've already completed your first five tasks. Good, very good. What I want you to do now is write a to-do list for the next day. A to-do list is important because it helps you keep control over what you need to do. So you stay organized and prioritize the most important things. I will keep on teaching you after you've completed this task.
You’re approaching the end of your first 10 tasks. What I'm about to tell you now is something I wish I had done earlier. A lot of people are lazy nowadays. What I did to overcome my laziness was very simple and effective. If a task takes less than 15 minutes to complete, don't think about it; rather, do it right away. This is a very powerful thing if you want to overcome your laziness. What I want you to do now is think about something you don't like doing that doesn't take more than 10 minutes. If you've found something, get up and DO IT! NOW! The rewarding feeling you will have afterward is very much worth it.
So how was it not too bad, huh? It's small things like that that will make big changes later on. What were you about to do next? Say it out loud and ask yourself whether what you were about to do would be "worth it," and by "worth it," I mean worth the limited time that you have here on earth. If not, take a look at the paper or notepad that you've written your goals on and start strategizing on how you'll achieve them. What I mean by strategizing is that you should think about how you'll achieve them and attack them with all your strength. Write down how you'll get there, step by step, and create a plan on how you'll achieve your goals. A plan is key if you want to change something.
You're almost done with your first 10 tasks. Good! I want you to draw two circles on a piece of paper. I will tell you why in the last task for the recruit rank. Also, you have to repeat this task at the end of every rank that you've completed; that's very important!
Remember the circles? Of course, you do. Each circle represents a day; cross out a circle each day before you go to bed. You're meant to access the next rank every 2 days, so you have some in-between time to study the tasks, and if 2 days isn't enough time for you to incorporate the tasks into your life, then take as long as you need to access the next rank. The most important thing is that you are honest with yourself. Move at your own pace and incorporate the tasks until you don't even think about them anymore and they become "normal" to you. Some tasks should be repeated on a daily basis; others are not meant to be, such as tasks 4 and 9, for example. Use your common sense to determine which tasks make sense to repeat on a daily basis and which don't. Once you've completed a rank, read through the tasks until they become habitual to you. I know it's hard, but I never said it would be easy. If you came this far, why stop now? You clearly want to change for the better. I’m proud of you for taking action and coming this far. Here is your last task for the recruit rank:Before you go to bed, take a warm shower, brush your teeth, and get ready for bed, but before actually going to sleep, meditate for about 5 minutes. Take deep breaths, focus on inhaling and exhaling, and try to relax your body. Again, feel free to increase the number of minutes over time. Meditation is the art of controlling your emotions. By focusing on "one thing" even if your mind wanders to different places, you should always go back to that "one thing". Generally, it's best to focus on your breath. Congratulations! You have completed the first 10 tasks! Just a heads-up: the tasks will only get harder from now on, but I'm sure you'll master them. Why wouldn't you? You're now only a hollow shell of what you could be. You’re now walking through shallow waters; get ready to start swimming in the future. I will be talking to you again in the next rank!
